CKS College Alumna Appointed by the President

Dr. Beverly Lorraine C. Ho Assumes Leadership as PhilHealth President and CEO
(Chiang Kai Shek College News) – President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. recently appointed Dr. Beverly Lorraine C. Ho, an alumna of Chiang Kai Shek College, as the new President and Chief Executive Officer of the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth). She succeeds Dr. Edwin Mercado, who was recently appointed by the President as Secretary of the Department of Health. Prior to her appointment, Dr. Ho served as Chief Medical Officer of Ayala Healthcare Holdings Corporation, one of the country’s leading healthcare groups.
Before moving to the private sector, Dr. Ho served as an Undersecretary of the Department of Health (DOH) and was one of the department’s prominent spokespersons during the COVID-19 pandemic. She has extensive experience in government service, having served as Undersecretary and Officer-in-Charge of the Health Promotion and Communication Service, Director of the Health Promotion Bureau, Director of the Disease Prevention and Control Bureau, Special Assistant to the Secretary of Health for Universal Health Coverage, Alternate Representative to the PhilHealth Board of Directors and Chairperson of its Benefits Committee, as well as Director of the Research Division of the DOH Health Policy Development and Planning Bureau
An Outstanding Alumna of the CKS College High School Class of 2001, Dr. Ho demonstrated a strong spirit of service even during her student years at Chiang Kai Shek College. She served as Chairman of the High School Student Council and held various class leadership positions for several consecutive years, dedicating herself to serving her fellow students. Academically, she excelled in her studies and was repeatedly recognized as an Honor Student in both the Chinese and English curricula, demonstrating strong self-discipline and well-rounded development. This early foundation in leadership and service has continued throughout her professional career in public health advocacy and institutional leadership.
Dr. Ho graduated from the University of the Philippines College of Medicine and earned a Master of Public Health degree from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. Her outstanding contributions to the nation and the healthcare sector have been widely recognized. In 2022, she received both the Ten Outstanding Young Men (TOYP) award in the Philippines and the Ten Outstanding Women in Nation’s Service (TOWNS) award.
Dr. Ho comes from a prominent Filipino-Chinese family. Her father, Mr. Benito Hi is a well-known community leader and entrepreneur in the Chinese-Filipino community. Mr. Ho graduated with a degree in Chemical Engineering from Mapúa Institute of Technology. He currently serves as the Permanent Honorary Chairman of the Philippine Ho Clan Family Association and has previously received the Outstanding Model Father award from the Federation of Filipino-Chinese Associations. Her mother, Dr. Luisa Chua Ho, is a renowned gynecologist.
